I’ve been dishonest with you
On Saturday we went to a restaurant. We arrived at 13:28 and waited till 13:30, its opening time. When I went in, they asked me to wait outside (on a… Read More
Why isn’t my blog as successful as I want it to be?
Today is one of those days. One of those days when I wake up and I wonder if it’s worth it. When I send that thought away, I put my… Read More
A personal note on social media
Piccoli traguardi: La Tela ha 1000 Like su Facebook
Yuppy!
TOP 10 posts of 2016
This is the last post of the year and to celebrate it, I decided to write a collection of the TOP 10 posts of 2016.
Giving and receiving advice as new parents
A few days ago I read a beautiful sentence on a post written by Jason Fried, “Advice is like fruit: it’s best when it’s fresh”. It made me think about giving (and receiving) advice, especially as new parents.
Death is all around us. Think about it. Prepare for it.
Today our friend’s wife died of a very aggressive tumour that killed her in four months. It reminded me of just how important it is to think about death, to mentally prepare for it. Today we’re here, we’re healthy, we’re happy, and tomorrow we might be dead. It puts everything into perspective.
How having a baby can make you more productive
Becoming a mother has made me more productive and I’m now finally paying my Idea Debt. And believe me, if I can do it, with the little time I have, you can do it, too.
Scopri come funziona.
If only the dots were numbered
A volte mi capita.
How to find your passion, for real! (4 years later)
Some while ago I watched the season finale of HBO’s Girls Season 3. Hannah, whose greatest passion is to write, gets into Iowa Writer’s Workshop, at the same time as things go south with her boyfriend Adam. They split up and everybody thinks she’s going to be devastated. Instead, she goes home, looks at the admission letter from the Iowa University and smiles.
The irrational battle of Mac vs. PC
It’s always infuriating to see intelligent people hate Apple irrationally, without actually analyzing the quality and functionality of their products against Windows products. So I asked my husband for help (especially with the techie bits) in writing a thoughtful blog post. This is the result.
Why didn’t I have that idea?
So many times I find myself wondering why I didn’t have that idea, write that article, come up with that solution.
I could have had that idea, written that blog post or designed that business card. So why didn’t I?
You’re more beautiful than you think
We, as women, spend a lot of time analysing and fixing the things that we don’t like about our appearances. We should spend more time appreciating the things we do like.
Technology is the only cure for distance
Distance is like an illness. Like it or not, strong relationships die of it—even when your loved ones are a direct flight away. However, distance has a simple cure: technology.
Sometimes you need the obvious
I finally read The Power of Less, by Leo Babauta. It had been sitting in my iBooks library forever, but every time I started reading it I always felt let down by “its obviousness”—typical of self-help books.
Does school really kill creativity?
I was in school for 20 years. I’m very good at writing essays (provided I have the right research material) and I have a very good studying method that always gets my students through their exams. But ask me to come up with anything new, anything I don’t already have some instructions for—a new recipe, game, choreography—and I’ll go blank. So are creativity and school really indirectly proportional?
In the face of death, smile and let go
The death of my friend’s husband made me think about life. When it comes to living, there’s no time for slow improvements and small achievements.
